This is real life. The truth is, I'm not that great at it. But this is it, and it is my life. You want me to post pictures of what I wear every day? You'd have a collaboration of different yoga pants, and oversized t-shirts--some worn multiple days in a row {cringe}! You want to know my toddler lunch meal ideas? They often vary between dino nuggets, pb&j, or ravioli--but hey, at least it's the frozen kind and not Chef Boyardee...although that has made a few appearances! You want pictures of my home decor? Well my house is usually a mess. There are dishes in the sink and laundry to be put away. Most days, with my two crazy sidekicks calling the shots, I don't have time to shower, and rarely even do my hair {am I really admitting this in a public forum?!}! But this is life, and it is my life. And I'm lucky enough to get to share it with an amazing husband and the 3 cutest kids in the world, so no matter how you look it, I'm the luckiest!

Our first "Bachelorette" Party this season

Although NO ONE responded to my first post about the Bachelorette Party and only one brave person was gutsy enough to say they were coming on my second post (thanks Katie), it was still a big success. 9 girls showed up--2 wardies: Sally and Tiffany; 1 former wardie/former temporary roomie: Genevieve; 1 sister-in-law: Sarah; and 1 sister-in-law's sister: Emily; 4 B-town friends; Katie, Aubrey, Shantaye, and Megan, plus 3 cute little babies--Melia, Jayda, and Crue.
It was super fun to get together and chat and eat and watch the Bachelorette. I'll be honest. I'm really not all that into the Bachelorette, and Ali was super awkward meeting all the guys. (Here's a zoomed in shot of Katie and Shantaye's faces--they pretty much sum up the episode in a nutshell. The guys were so awkward and Ali wasn't making it any better...)

But I think it'll be a fun season. It's fun to watch and even more fun to have an excuse to get lotsa girls together--even if half of them hadn't even seen the show before! Who cares? It's more about getting together anyway. Seriously, sometimes girls just need a little girl time, (although Mike did join in the party about halfway through, but that's okay)!

Melia had a lot of fun with Jayda. It was so fun to see Jayda standing and crawling. Melia was pretty mesmerized with her too.

Melia was jealous of Jayda's SKILLZ!

I've had lots of requests for my pulled pork recipe that I made for the party so here it is. My sister Kristy gave it to me and I don't know where she got it, but it really is the easiest recipe ever and smells awesome while it's cooking--your house will be filled with a fabulous aroma all day! :)

KRISTY'S MANGO PEACH PULLED PORK

1 pork tenderloin
(I buy the double one at Costco and just use one. But one serves a TON of people, we still had leftovers tonight. Sometimes I cut them in half or thirds and freeze the rest.)
1 cup brown sugar (I think my sister's original recipe called for 2 cups, but it's super sweet with just 1 so I just use 1.)
2 cups Mango Peach Salsa
(I buy the Santa Barbara Salsa at Costco. I think the recipe would be fabulous with ANY kind of salsa.)

Stir together brown sugar and salsa in a slow cooker. Add pork (frozen is okay if it'll fit in the slow cooker). Cook on low for 8 hours or on high for 4-5 hours. Shred pork with 2 forks before serving. If you get the Costco pork and cook it fully, it pretty much falls apart on its own. It's super tender and juicy.
Serve on nachos, in tacos, or in a salad. The possibilities are endless and SO YUMMY!

Bachelorette Party TONIGHT!

Remember our weekly Bachelorette Parties start TONiGHT! It's already recorded on my DVR and set to watch! I bought doughnuts and I have chips and queso and am going to make my mango peach pulled pork tomorrow to put on top of the nachos or whatever so come hungry! Or eat dinner before, I really don't care. Just be prepared for some fun! Although NO ONE responded on my previous post, I have had at least 5 people say they're coming. Most of them said something like, "I saw your blog post about the Bachelorette, that sounds so fun..." and I've responded, "You should come!" and then they say, "Well I was going to invite myself..." WHAT DO YOU MEAN iNViTE YOURSELF? DiDN'T MY BLOG POST ALREADY iNViTE YOU?! And if you're reading this thinking "Hey, she's making fun of me..." I'm not. I am not kidding when I say almost every single one of the people I've talked to about it have said pretty much that same thing. At any rate, if there's anyone else out there feeling the same way, YOU ARE ALREADY iNViTED, SO COME! (And if you come once that doesn't mean you have to commit to coming every week.) So if you read my blog and know where I live that means you're invited. If you read my blog and don't know where I live, ask me and I might tell you. (If you read my blog and don't know me but some how found me although I am not Googleable, you're not invited...sorry.) I've got a few wardies coming, at least one B-town friend, and a couple post HS non-wardie (or former wardie) friends coming, so anyone is welcome. It's going to be lots of fun and everyone needs a good summer show! I look forward to seeing you all TONiGHT!

Hey friends! The Bachelorette starts on Monday (the 24th)! Yay! :) So I am throwing a BACHELORETTE PARTY! And you're all invited! I'm hoping that a buncha girls will get together to watch it--so come if you love the Bachelorette, or even if you haven't watched it before but would like to! It's not one of those shows you need to ever have seen before, so come join in the fun. All the regular shows are on hiatus for the summer so join in and start watching the Bachelorette. If it works out, we'll have a get together every week to watch. We're going to be watching it on Tuesday (the 25th) at 7:30 PM so that we can fast forward the commercials! Let me know if you think you'll come. Hopefully it won't just be me and Melia! :)

"Shake Your Bon Bon"

by Ricky Martin

I wanna be your lover, your only latin lover.
We'll go around the world in a day.
Don't say no, no.
Shake it my way, oh shake your bon-bon,
Shake your bon-bon, shake your bon-bon!

Well Ricky, my darling, I wanted you to be my only latin lover too, but I guess that will never happen. Although my heart is broken, I guess I finally have to truly accept it.

But don't worry Ricky, whether you love me or not, I'll keep shaking my bon bon to your music until my dying day! :)

As soon as I heard Ricky had come out I immediately called my mom. When I told her my "life long love" had come out of the closet she squealed, "OH NO!" Her reaction was so big I then asked what she thought I was talking about. She then responded by asking if one of my high school boyfriends (who will remain nameless) was gay. Lol. I think she was more sad though when I told her it wasn't him, it was Ricky.

I first set eyes on Ricky performing "The Cup of Life" at the 1999 Grammy Awards. Almost no one in America knew his name yet, but I was smitten. (Pretty sure my mom was too.) At any rate, I became like any other smitten teen. I had his calendar on my wall and my sister even got me a signed poster of him. It said "To Heather, all my love! Ricky". Here's a picture of teenage me in my bedroom by my Ricky Martin shrine poster.
I had the bulletin board in my bedroom splattered with pictures of Ricky and even my glow sticks from his concert. (Ignore all the brand tags, I guess I was a little overly obsessed with brand names too. Good thing that wore off or Mike would never had been able to handle me.)

I guess I should've known, and perhaps deep down I always did. Thinking of the two men sitting behind me at his concert proclaiming their love for him and his beauty, or even just judging from this picture of him from my calendar...yes, I had a feeling, but I refused to admit it, especially to all those boys in jr. high and high school who always insisted I was wrong. But then when these two little ones were born, I thought perhaps I'd been right all along, although I'll admit I was a little surprised.

When the news story of his "coming out" was released, I got a message on my Facebook from one of those high school boy friends who used to mock me for my love of all things Ricky. He said, "You owe me $1000." Well, I guess they were right all along.

After getting home from work and seeing me sitting on the couch in misery Mike quickly ran to the bedroom. Moments later I heard the first notes of "Livin' la Vida Loca" blasting from the stereo. Then Mike came back out from the room, dancing for me in his underwear.

Ricky who?

"The (LAME) Bachelor"

As I am sure many of you know, this past Monday was the season finale of the Bachelor. I was very excited for it. I have actually enjoyed this whole season quite a bit because I really liked Jason and was bummed when DeAnna didn't choose him on the Bachelorette. I think the reason I liked him so much was because his whole situation reminded me a lot of Mike (the whole divorced with a little boy thing).

I stole these pictures off a friend of a friend's blog. The girl whose blog it was went to jr. high and highschool with Jason and these pictures really are him! AHH! They had me laughing so hard when I saw them. :) LOL! The first one in the white shirt is 8th grade, the 2nd one in the black shirt is freshman year, and the 3rd one is his senior year. It looks like losing the glasses helped a little. Lol!

Anyway, I've been rooting for Melissa almost the whole season also. She reminded me the most of myself. You know, the whole gorgeous NFL cheerleader thing...oh wait...no, that wasn't why... :) I think just the fact that she is young and wants to be a teacher and I dunno, I just really liked her. I know a lot of people disagreed (including Mike) but I felt like of everyone she would be the best in the situation of step-mother and wife with Jason. Now I am sure a lot of people question it, but no one could completely understand unless you've been a step mother to a young little boy yourself. I think it was mostly her youthfulness and almost naïvety...but I don't know. (I know she is older than some of the girls, including Molly, but she seemed the most "youthful" yet still mature.) And anyone who saw the finale and saw her with Ty cannot argue that she was a complete natural with him, as opposed to Molly who was freaked out and didn't have a clue how to act and react with him. Anyway, now that the season is over, all I can say is that I was completely disgusted with Jason and have lost all respect I ever had for him. Because of this whole debacle, I decided to steal the below post from my friend Jessica's blog because it pretty much sums it all up! Thank you Jessica! (Also, I have added my own little comments after it.)

Dear Bachelor Jason,

Typically I do not rise to the occasion of wasting time blogging about reality shows, but something happened tonight that really has me a bit irked. Just a bit.
First of all, I didn't think you were the smartest cookie when you neglected to give a rose to Jillian, but I let that one slide knowing that she'd be an excellent candidate for the next Bachelorette and find someone who actually deserved her.
Then, I didn't think you were really smart in proposing to Melissa, but I wasn't a die-hard Molly fan either, so I didn't really care too much about that.
Here's the thing though. If I'm honest, somehow you never struck me as a very classy man, but waiting until the (6 weeks post proposal) "After the Final Rose" taping to break up with the chick you originally proposed to was just plain ballsy - dare I say flat out scummy (I'd use the words I'd really like to write, but I'd like to keep this blog G-rated.)
I'll just say when I heard Melissa, under her breath, refer to you as an "illegitimate child", I raised my hands and proclaimed a hefty "YOU GO, GIRL!!"

You are sort of an illegitimate child. Quite a bit, actually.

Mostly because I just wasted my precious time blogging about how ridiculous you are.

Signed,
Totally Bugged By You And Your Lack Of Personality, Sensitivity, Class or Anything That Resembles A Freaking Heart.

And, dear Bachelor Jason, the fact that only about 10 minutes after breaking up with your former fiance on live television you passionately kissed another girl, again on live television, only makes you MORE illegitimate. (And in response to all your defensive, "I'm just living my life" comments, if you were just a regular guy, not on TV, and you hooked up with another girl 10 minutes after offically breaking it off with your fiance, you'd still be completely illegitimate.) It also poses the question that perhaps your ex wife was not the crazy one?

Sincerely,
Disgusted by You and Your Sheer Lack of Integrity

(Speaking of the ex wife, for anyone reading this today, supposedly they're having an interview with her on Access Hollywood tonight asking if Jason has ever been able to make up his mind. Anyway, that is on at 11 or 11:30 PM.)
